Recently Abbeys have been awarded approval by SAFRAN for Blue Etch Inspection.
Blue etch inspection is a process designed to highlight the structure of any surface defects such as: Forge cuts, forge laps, inclusions, local areas of over or under-heating, local areas of alpha case, chemical segregation and machining problems, which may result in an unacceptable metallurgical microstructure.
This Process can be used to assess components in the finished condition or as forgings
to help substantiate processes used by new forging suppliers.
